The History

The Festival was held for the first time in 2011, put together by a partnership between Glenorchy City Council, Council’s Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee and Moonah Promotions. The Festival was established with the aims of building the capacity of culturally diverse communities within Glenorchy, promoting tolerance, acceptance and understanding of diversity and increasing community pride. The first Moonah Taste of the World Festival was held in a Moonah carpark as a one-off event, but due to its popularity and success it is now an annual celebration and has grown into one of Tasmania’s largest multicultural events.
